Founded in 2022 by architect Yi Wang, Atelier ChiOh is a Shanghai-based, research-driven design studio dedicated to providing agile and adaptive spatial solutions for evolving, high-density urban environments.
We return to the fundamentals of architecture—site context, light interaction, material textures, and tectonics—to craft compelling spatial narratives and immersive sensory experiences. Acknowledging the complexities and constraints of contemporary urban development, we treat these challenges not as limitations, but as catalysts for design innovation. By maintaining an open, experimental approach, we deliver responsive designs that secure enduring commercial and cultural value amidst continuous change.
Yi Wang holds a B.Arch and an M.Arch from Tongji University, where he currently serves as a Visiting Design Tutor. His architectural framework was shaped by core roles at Atelier Deshaus (Shanghai), focusing on localized urban regeneration, and Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG, Copenhagen), known for bold, pragmatic innovation. This dynamic background fuels the studio's core research on the intersection of architecture, time, and high-density urbanism, driving us to bridge intellectual rigor with real-world impact.
起屋设计工作室由建筑师王轶于2022年在上海创立，是一家致力于为高密度城市环境提供敏捷、适应性空间解决方案的研究型设计事务所。
我们回归空间设计的本质——场地、光线、材料与建造，并以此为叙事基础，为每一次设计创造深刻的身体感知与沉浸体验。
在当下充满不确定性的现实语境中，起屋拒绝刻板的形式输出。起屋试图将当代建筑与城市更新中的“限制”，视为空间创新的驱动力。
通过具有实验性的动态反馈与渐进式优化，起屋在不断改变的城市背景中，为客户寻找最具持久价值的商业与文化空间表达。
创始人王轶拥有同济大学建筑学学士及硕士学位，并于2024年起受聘为同济大学建筑与城市规划学院特聘设计导师。
在创立起屋前，他曾履职于丹麦BIG建筑事务所（哥本哈根）与上海大舍建筑事务所。
从国际前沿的务实创新，到本土深度的城市更新实践，跨文化的复合背景塑造了起屋独特的工作框架。
工作室的学术研究与实践高度目前聚焦于建筑、时间与高密度都市的交汇点，力求在每一次微观介入或长效更新中，回应时代的真实需求。
